DUTCH DUO Michael Van Gerwen and Berry Van Peer both progressed from their respective Groups at the bwin Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton.Reigning champion Van Gerwen stormed through Group A, claiming victories against Ross Montgomery, Rob Cross and Joe Murnan.
Van Peer captured the hearts of arrows fans as he struggled to release his darts in his three Group H games.
Despite his visible battle, Van Peer claimed victories against Simon Whitlock and Cameron Menzies to win through to the second round – along with Gary Anderson, who defeated the youngster in his second match.
Van Gerwen will be back in action on Thursday, when he takes on Ireland’s Steve Lennon.
Van Peer faces Champions League winner Mensur Suljovic in the last 16 on Wednesday.
