RUSTY-JAKE RODRIGUEZ won the Junior Darts Corporation World Championship final with a 5-4 defeat of Owen Roelofs at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Austrian youngster Rodriguez – one of three darting brothers represented by ZWA – came from two legs down as he picked up the title.
He had won through the early rounds of the tournament in Bristol two earlier, and produced a brilliant fightback before a session of and on the same stage as the World Darts Championship
After falling two legs behind, Rodriguez levelled before finishing 80 take a 3-2 lead – and the tie went all the way to a decider, which Rodriguez won by landing double ten.
Rodriguez, 16, made his European Tour debut at the 2017 Austrian Darts Open and also won a PDC Unicorn Development Tour event, and is the younger brother of former Roxy-James and former World Youth Championship finalist Rowby-John – with their youngest sibling, Rigi-Jorg, expected to follow the trio onto the circuit in future.
