As the world’s top darts player, Michael van Gerwen repeats perfection more than any of his competitors.

But, until now, only the great Phil Taylor had managed the incredible feat of producing two flawless legs of darts in one match.

On Friday, van Gerwen joined Taylor in that exclusive club by executing two nine-dart finishes in a best of eleven match against Ryan Murray at a UK Open qualifier.

Here’s how it happened….

Van Gerwen, who went on to win the tournament, said: “This was a special moment for me.

“It is something I almost did before at the World Championship but it wasn’t to be that day.

“Maybe to do it over an even shorter format is even more special. But most important is that I went on to win the tournament.”

The World Champion was referring to this match against James Wade, when he almost fired in back-to-back nine-darters. Unthinkable.
